Day 1 | Arrival In Leh:

A Gentle Arrival in the Himalayas

Airport to Hotel: Approx. 5–7 km | 15–20 Minutes

Your journey begins with a spectacular flight into Leh, where the aircraft descends between the dramatic folds of the Himalayas. On arrival at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, meet your private driver and transfer to your hotel. Set at approximately 3,500 metres above sea level, Leh requires a slower rhythm on arrival, and the first few hours have deliberately been left free for rest, hydration and gentle acclimatisation.

Later in the afternoon, subject to how you are feeling, begin your introduction to Ladakh with a visit to Shanti Stupa, beautifully positioned above Leh and offering sweeping views across the town and surrounding mountains. Continue to the historic Leh Palace, whose weathered walls and quiet corridors recall Ladakh's royal past. As evening settles, enjoy a gentle walk through Leh Market before returning to your hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 3 | Leh To Nubra Valley:

Across Khardung La Into the Cold Desert

Approx. 120 km | 4–5 Hours

After breakfast, leave Leh and begin one of Ladakh's most memorable mountain journeys towards Nubra Valley. The road climbs through a stark and increasingly dramatic landscape towards Khardung La, the legendary gateway to the Nubra and Shyok valleys. Pause briefly amongst fluttering prayer flags and sweeping mountain views before descending into a landscape once connected to the ancient Silk Route.

Continue towards Diskit Monastery, the oldest and largest monastery in Nubra Valley, where ancient prayer halls and the magnificent Maitreya Buddha overlook the broad valley below. Later, travel to the surreal Hunder Sand Dunes, where white sand lies unexpectedly between towering Himalayan mountains. Enjoy time in the cold desert, with optional Bactrian camel rides or adventure activities available at your own cost, before continuing to your retreat for a relaxed evening.

Day 5 | The Siachen Frontier & Ancient Nubra:

Sacred Waters, Rock Art and Remote Monasteries

Approx. 86 kms | 2 Hours 15 Mins

Begin early for a remarkable journey through the lesser-explored northern side of Nubra Valley, where sacred landscapes, ancient history and modern frontier stories come together.

Your first experience is Yarab Tso, a secluded lake reached by a gentle uphill walk. Considered sacred by the local community, the lake rests quietly between barren mountain slopes and offers a peaceful beginning to the day.

Continue towards Panamik, historically associated with the old caravan routes towards Central Asia. Pause at the village’s natural hot springs before travelling deeper into the valley. Panamik and nearby Samstanling Gompa remain important elements of Nubra’s cultural landscape.

Depending on road accessibility, continue towards Ensa Monastery, dramatically positioned above the valley and far removed from Ladakh’s more frequently visited monastic circuit. Its isolated setting and sweeping views make the journey as memorable as the monastery itself.

Proceed to Murgi Tokpo, one of Ladakh’s significant rock-art landscapes. Scattered across the site are ancient petroglyphs depicting animals, masks, human figures and symbols that offer glimpses into the people and movements that once passed through the Nubra region. Academic documentation identifies Murgi Tokpo as one of Ladakh’s largest known concentrations of petroglyphs.

The journey continues towards the Siachen War Memorial and Base Camp axis, where the stark surroundings provide a deeper understanding of the extraordinary conditions faced by soldiers serving in this remote high-altitude frontier. Civilian access generally extends only to the designated base-camp area and remains subject to prevailing military permissions, road conditions and local advisories.

Return to Sumur by evening for a well-earned dinner and a relaxed night at the resort.

Day 6 | Nubra Valley To Pangong Tso:

Following the Shyok River to the Blue Horizon

Approx. 220–225 km | 6–7 Hours

Depart Nubra Valley after an early breakfast and follow the remote road towards Pangong Tso via the Shyok River Valley. Today's drive is a journey through extraordinary Himalayan wilderness, where mountains rise abruptly from the valley floor and small settlements gradually disappear into vast open landscapes.

Eventually, the first glimpse of Pangong Tso appears—a seemingly endless sweep of blue beneath the mountains. Set at approximately 4,267 metres, the lake is renowned for its changing colours, shifting from turquoise to cobalt and deep blue as light moves across the landscape. Arrive at your lakeside stay and spend the remainder of the day at an unhurried pace, walking beside the shoreline and watching the evening light transform the lake. After darkness falls, step outside to experience Pangong's beautifully clear high-altitude sky.

Day 8 | Hanle & Umling La Excursion:

A Journey to the Edge of the World

Approx. 150–170 km Round Trip | 6–7 Hours

After breakfast, venture deeper into Ladakh's high-altitude frontier on an excursion towards Umling La, standing at approximately 19,024 feet. The road itself is one of the day's most memorable experiences, travelling through vast plains, mineral-coloured mountains and landscapes with almost no visible human presence.

Arrive at Umling La and spend a carefully paced period at this extraordinary altitude, taking in panoramic views across the remote Himalayan wilderness. The altitude demands respect, and your time at the pass should remain limited. Return to Hanle later in the afternoon and allow the evening to unfold slowly. As darkness returns, step outside once again for another opportunity to experience Hanle's remarkable night sky.

Day 10 | Tso Moriri to Leh:

Returning Through the Indus Valley

Approx. 220–240 km | 7–8 HoursRoute: Korzok – Sumdo – Mahe – Chumathang – Upshi – Shey – Thiksey – Leh

Wake to the profound stillness of Tso Moriri, where the first light moves gently across the lake and surrounding mountains. After breakfast, bid farewell to Korzok and begin the long yet beautifully rewarding journey back towards Leh.

Travel across the open landscapes of the Changthang plateau, retracing the route through Sumdo and Mahe before joining the Indus River. The scenery gradually transforms as the vast high-altitude plains give way to narrow valleys, riverside villages and mineral-rich mountain slopes.

Continue through Chumathang, a remote settlement known for its natural hot springs rising beside the Indus. Pause briefly for refreshments and enjoy the changing landscape before following the river westwards through the villages of the lower Indus Valley.

As you approach Leh, make a stop at the iconic Druk White Lotus School, popularly known as the 3 Idiots School, set against a dramatic mountain backdrop. Continue to Shey Palace, once the summer capital of Ladakh’s royal family, where you can explore its historic halls and admire the towering copper-gilded Buddha statue. Nearby, take a short detour to the serene Shey Marshes, a peaceful wetland area known for its birdlife and tranquil views of the surrounding mountains.

Subject to arrival time and energy levels, visit Thiksey Monastery, one of Ladakh’s most magnificent Buddhist complexes. Rising dramatically above the valley, its whitewashed buildings, prayer halls, sacred shrines and peaceful courtyards offer a fitting final cultural encounter on your Himalayan journey.

Continue towards Leh and arrive by evening. After checking into your hotel, spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Wander through Leh Market, visit a favourite café, browse local handicrafts or simply reflect on a remarkable journey shaped by remote valleys, sacred lakes and extraordinary night skies.
